how does therapy work?

What is CBT?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a well-established, evidence-based form of psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals understand and change the patterns of thinking and behaviour that contribute to their psychological distress.

How Does CBT Work?

CBT operates on the premise that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are interconnected. By identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and beliefs, we can develop healthier ways of thinking, which in turn lead to positive changes in behaviour and emotional wellbeing. During CBT sessions, you will learn practical skills and strategies to manage your difficulties and improve your mental health.

About A Session

Initial appointment & assessment

During your initial session, we will explore your present challenges and begin to understand the core issues at hand. I will explain the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and together we will establish some therapeutic goals. We will work on a shared understanding of your experience, often shown as a visual diagram. Based on this shared understanding and your therapy goals, we will then come up with a clear step-by-step treatment plan.

How Long Will A Session Last?

Sessions last for 50-60 minutes and take place online.

How Much Does It Cost?

Therapy sessions cost £80 for individuals and £90 for couples.

How can therapy help me?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach that has been proven to help with a wide range of mental health difficulties, including anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. By focusing on the connection between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, CBT aims to identify and change negative patterns that may be contributing to your distress.

My therapist was absolutely brilliant. I have spent years in a battle with inner opinions about myself and I could not have asked for a more supportive; wise and kind therapist. She has helped me to see things realistically, pointed things out and guided me in a way that I believe will be invaluable going forward. Thank you Beth.
